DCProximity Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 12, 2026 · Published by Judge Dean LLC

The short version: DCProximity collects no personal information. There is no account to create, no sign-in, and no tracking. Anything you do in the app stays on your device.

DCProximity helps you see how nearby U.S. data centers may affect your community — water use, electricity and utility costs, wildlife and land, and quality-of-life themes. This policy explains how the DCProximity iOS app, published by Judge Dean LLC ("we," "us"), handles information.

1. We do not collect personal data

The app has no user accounts, no login, and no registration. We do not ask for your name, email, phone number, or any other identifying information; we do not build a profile of you; and we do not use any advertising, tracking, attribution, or analytics services. We have no servers that receive information about you, so there is nothing about you for us to store.

2. Permissions the app may request

DCProximity requests only one optional permission: location, while using the app. Nothing else (no contacts, photos, microphone, notifications, or tracking) is requested. The app is fully usable without granting any permission.

3. Location

If you tap "find data centers near me," the app asks iOS for your approximate location and uses it only on your device to calculate how far nearby data centers are from you and to center the map. Your location is never saved by the app and is never transmitted to us or to anyone else. You can revoke the permission at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services.

4. Notes you add

If you add a personal note or "experience" about a data center, that text is stored only on your device. It is not uploaded, published, shared, or visible to anyone else, and it is cleared when you fully close the app. This is a private, on-device feature only.

5. Data center information

The data center facts shown in the app (locations, water and power figures, construction activity, and illustrative community sentiment) are read from our public, read-only catalog. These requests carry no personal information and are not tied to you in any way. Figures are drawn from public records where cited, and are otherwise clearly labeled as illustrative estimates.

6. Maps

The map is rendered by Apple Maps (MapKit), which is part of iOS and governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not receive any Maps usage data.

7. Data retention & sharing

Because we do not collect personal data, we retain none, and there is nothing for us to sell, rent, trade, or share. We do not share user data with third parties.

8. Your choices

9. Children's privacy

DCProximity is rated 4+ and is not directed to children under 13. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children, so no information about a child is ever knowingly gathered.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles information, we will update this page and revise the effective date above. Material changes will be posted here before they take effect.
