Judge Dean LLC · United States camping
Your quiet. Your privacy.
Privacy policy · Updated October 2, 2026
CampShhh helps you find US campgrounds and prepare for booking. You can browse, save places and make personal plans without an account.
If you choose Enable my contributions, verification creates a guest account without asking for your name, email or password. We do not sell personal information, use advertising trackers or share data for targeted advertising.
On your device
Saved places, personal booking plans, travel dates, notes, reminder settings, blocked-contributor preferences and app preferences are stored on your device. Your contribution session is also kept there so the app can recognize the same guest account. Device backups may include local information. Plans do not sync through our service.
A calendar export creates a separate copy after you save it in the system editor. Editing or deleting a CampShhh plan does not change that copy, which follows your calendar’s privacy and synchronization settings.
Location, searches and maps
Location permission is optional. Near me and campground searches filter the bundled catalog on your device. Apple Maps receives requests for map areas you view and processes them under Apple’s privacy policy. CampShhh does not maintain a background location history.
Earlier releases could send nearby coordinates and searches to our hosted service. Network providers may derive a general location from an IP address for service operation and security.
Guest accounts and contributions
When you enable contributions, Supabase stores a pseudonymous account identifier and authentication records. Noise ratings, the month you stayed, field-report text, helpful votes, moderation reports and related timestamps are linked to that account. Pseudonymous means no name is required; it does not mean no data is collected.
Field reports can be read by other people. Submitted ratings contribute to the separate camper noise score, which uses the latest rating from each guest account. Stays are self-reported; helpful votes do not change the score. Avoid including names, contact details or other private information in public reports.
Public research and earlier contributions
Selected public campground experiences are summarized in a bundled research ledger with source links and check dates. Research estimates are editorial interpretations, not review-platform star ratings or sound measurements. The app does not fetch those review websites until you open a source link.
Earlier app releases collected submitted noise ratings, stay months, field reports, helpful votes, campground follows, moderation reports and related timestamps. A pseudonymous identifier derived from a device identifier linked these records. Some historical records have unverified provenance and are withheld from current research and camper scores.
Verification and service information
Supabase hosts contribution and account services. Cloudflare Turnstile checks whether a contribution request comes from a person. These services process technical information such as IP address, browser or app information, security signals and request events to provide the service, prevent spam and investigate problems. Service logs may be associated with your guest account or device.
Cloudflare also uses Turnstile signals to improve its bot detection. See Supabase’s privacy policy and Cloudflare’s Turnstile privacy notice. We do not use this information for targeted advertising.
Reminders and optional tips
Personal reminders are scheduled on your device with permission; delivery depends on iOS settings. Version 2.0 does not offer campground-follow push updates on iPhone. Earlier releases may have stored follow preferences, inbox entries and notification registrations.
Apple processes optional consumable tips and handles purchase history and refunds. We do not receive your payment-card number or upload your purchase receipt to our campground service. The app uses purchase information supplied by Apple to finish the transaction and show its result, and keeps a local record to avoid asking for another tip too soon. Tips unlock no features.
Delete contributions or your guest account
In About, Delete contributions only removes the reports, ratings, votes, moderation reports and any update subscriptions owned by your current guest account. It keeps the guest account and limited private submission-limit records.
Delete guest account removes that account and its owned contributions. Daily activity counters are removed with the account. Saved places, plans and Apple purchases remain. If deletion cannot be confirmed, the app pauses contributions and lets you check its status before creating another guest account.
Older device-only contributions cannot automatically be claimed by a new guest account. Contact support about an earlier submission; we may need independent evidence that it is yours. Clearing app data or reinstalling the app does not delete server submissions and can remove access to your guest session.
Retention, choices and security
Local information remains until you remove it or clear the app’s local data; backup and calendar copies are managed separately. We retain limited deletion-status, security and administrative records as needed to resolve requests and operate the service. Provider logs and backup copies may remain separately. Pending deletion requests require review; an expired receipt is not proof of deletion.
Manage location, notification and calendar permissions in iOS Settings. You can browse without location access, decline reminders and choose not to export a calendar event. Requests to our hosted service use HTTPS. No storage or transmission method is completely secure.
Support and other services
If you email support, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send and use them to handle your request. Please redact private information. Never send passwords, authentication tokens, deletion receipts or recovery codes.
Apple Maps and purchases follow Apple’s privacy policy. Campground map data is attributed to OpenStreetMap contributors; external OSM services follow the OSM Foundation privacy policy. Reservation operators and research websites have their own policies when you open them.
Children and policy changes
CampShhh is not directed at children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information. If our enabled features or data practices change, we will update this policy and the app’s disclosures.
